Everything about NAM files
in one place
Download amp and pedal profiles, learn how to load them into a plugin or processor, and find out how to capture your own amp's sound — no fluff, no assumed knowledge.
What NAM is, in 30 seconds
Neural Amp Modeler is a free, open-source project that uses a neural network to "capture" the sound of a real amp or pedal, then lets you play it back through a plugin or compatible hardware.
It's not a hardware profile
A NAM file is a trained neural network (.nam), not a set of preset parameters. That's why it can reproduce a tube amp's behavior so accurately, including its nonlinearities and response to playing dynamics.
Free and open
The NAM plugin itself is free and open-source. Amp models are made and shared by the community — everything from hobbyist captures to professional studio-grade profiles.
Plugin + cab are separate
A .nam file usually captures only the amp's "character." Cabinet simulation (an IR) is often loaded as a separate block — one of the first things that trips up newcomers.
Fresh files from the library
A small sample — check the full catalog with filters by brand, genre, and gain type in the library.
Built for beginners and pros alike
We don't split content into "easy" and "advanced" — we just flag who'll find each piece most useful first.
Just getting started?
We'll walk through what NAM is, how it differs from Kemper/Helix/Fractal profiles, how to install the plugin, and how to load your first file — step by step, assuming nothing.
